We synthesized water-soluble and biocompatible D-glucuronic acid coated Na2WO4 and BaCO3 nanoparticles for the first time to be used as CT contrast agents. Synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by using XRD, TGA, DLS, FT-IR, HRTEM and in vitro cytotoxicity test, in vivo CT images. Their average particle diameters were 3.2 ± 0.1 and 2.8 ± 0.1 nm for D-glucuronic acid coated Na2WO4 and BaCO3 nanoparticles. In vivo CT images were obtained positive contrast enhancements in the kidney were clearly shown. We expect that this study may be promising CT contrast agents.
